Our Services
Home-Start Dunfermline is one of 33 Home-Start Schemes across Scotland and over 300 UK wide who work to support families at local level. Home-Start Dunfermline supports families with a child or children aged 0-5 in Dunfermline and South West Fife. We are here for all parents, whatever their background, and whatever their situation.
One to One Support
We match trained volunteers with families for regular visits. Support is tailored to the needs of each individual family. Support can be provided in the family home, but a key role of volunteers can also be to encourage and accompany parents in accessing local services. All our volunteers are trained, managed and supervised by Home-Start Dunfermline staff. Volunteers are from all walks of life, each with parenting experience and a little free time available each week to help provide emotional and practical help to local families. Support is confidential, flexible and totally responsive to the family’s needs.
Groups and Classes
We also run a number of weekly groups and classes for parents and children. These meet in local community centres and provide opportunities for peer support for all parents who attend. There are also opportunities for children to play, interact with their peers and take part in singing and rhymes, arts and crafts and other activities. Getting Support
If you are a parent looking for support, please phone us on 01383 621349 or visit our Contact Page to ask for a referral form. The form is simple; you can complete it yourself but please phone or call into our office if you need help with this or ask someone else such as your GP or health visitor to do it for you. The information you provide will help us ensure that the support you receive is appropriate and effective.
Once we receive your completed referral form we will contact you and arrange to visit to discuss what issues your family is having to deal with, what support is needed and how we may be able to help you. Home-Start Dunfermline is an independent and confidential volunteer service – we only support you at your request.
